How to Remove a Gmail Account from an Android Phone
Having multiple Google accounts on your phone can be confusing, especially if you’re juggling both personal and business email on the same device. If you’re ready to get rid of an old account, there are two ways to remove it from your Android phone. The easiest way requires the use of your desktop computer, while the other will allow you to do it right on your mobile device. Whichever method you choose, you won’t lose any of your contacts or calendars when you delete your from an Android phone.
Step 1: Check your Apps
The first step for removing your account is to open the Google Play Store. You can find the app store by tapping the Play Store icon on your home screen or in your app drawer. Once you are there, you can search for Remove Account and it should pop up in the search results list. Tap on the remove account link and then tap on Yes, delete my data to confirm that you want to delete your account. Tap Remove Now at the bottom of this screen and then enter your password if prompted. The account will now be removed from your phone and all of its stored information will be deleted too!
Step 2: Open Settings and Tap Accounts & Sync
In Settings, tap Accounts & Sync. On the next screen, you will see all of your email accounts that are currently set up on the phone. Choose the one you want to remove and tap it so that a check mark appears next to it. Then tap Remove account.
If you're unable to remove your account through this method, try going into Manage accounts and removing it there instead.
Step 3: Under Accounts, Tap on Google
If you tap on Google under Accounts, you'll see the list of accounts that are linked with your phone. The one account that you want to delete will be at the top of the list. Tap on that account and it will say Delete. Press Delete and then press OK. Once your account is deleted, you can sign up for another one.
Step 4: Tap on the Associated Account You Want To Delete

5. After you have tapped on the account, the next screen will show what Google services are associated with that account. Check which of these services you would like to delete by tapping on them and then tapping again when they turn gray. You can also tap on Delete at the bottom of this screen if all of them should be deleted.
6. When everything has been checked, tap Next. You will then see a message telling you that deleting this account means deleting its contents as well and asking whether or not you want to continue with deletion or cancel it altogether.
Step 5: Tap Remove Account, Confirm And That’s It!
If you want, you can also back up your contacts before deleting the account. To do this, open the Gmail app and then go to Settings > Accounts and tap on the account that you want to delete. Then, tap Backup Contacts. You can either choose to back up all of your contacts or only those who are synced with Google or just those in your primary Google account.
